Outplacement & Reverse Recruiting

Two candidate-side services get confused constantly, and the difference comes down to who pays. Outplacement is the transition help your former employer buys for you after a layoff. Reverse recruiting is the service you pay for yourself to run your job search. Both are real, both are priced opaquely, and almost every "best of" list about them is published by a company selling the service.

This cluster is the independent version: what each service actually does, who genuinely benefits, what they cost, and how the two compare and stack. We name the providers, publish the real prices where they exist, and say plainly where a service is worth it and where it is not.

Start with what outplacement is, then what a reverse recruiter is, then the side-by-side comparison of the two.
